Basic Details:

Ninad Sancheti – Russia Exchange Experience
  • Name: Ninad Sancheti
  • Country: India
  • Age: 21
  • Internship period: 6 weeks
  • Project/Organization: Russia

1. Why did you intend to go for an AIESEC internship?

I have been in AIESEC for more than 2.5 yrs and it has been a very amazing experience for me, I learned a lot from it.  AIESEC helped me discover my strengths, weaknesses and capabilities. As a member, I had tried to experience all the different things in AIESEC. But the most important AIESEC experience was missing and it seemed incomplete to me. The internship experience was missing. So, to live the complete AIESEC experience and take whatever AIESEC had to offer me, I decided to go on an exchange expecting an experience of a lifetime.

2. What did you do in your internship?

I interacted with many people, mostly youth from different cultures and countries. I and the other interns presented different topics to school children, youth and orphans and also tried to help them communicate in English through workshops, cultural festival, discussions and various interactive sessions. We were also part of a 4 day cultural festival known as Kult Fest (International Cultural Festival).

I was also a Cultural Envoy for Exchange Development (CEED) and worked in a team for the ecological part of an exchange project of AIESEC Moscow. I went to schools to judge the level of interest among them and to develop the project content.

3. How was the hospitality?

I mostly interacted with youth and they were very hospitable. I faced language problems sometimes but
it was a pretty good experience interacting with them. I came to know of many things about Russia – its
culture, famous places and the people, of-course. I met people from other countries too. I attended the
local conference of AIESEC Moscow and it was an unbelievable experience. I liked the city people and I
loved their hospitality.

4. What did you learn from your internship experience?

My internship experience and the friends I made during it is something that I will treasure all my life. They taught me a lot. I learned how to adjust in different situations. I learned how to interact with people of various countries and of various age groups. I got to know Russia in terms of its culture, people, places, practices, lifestyle and much more.  I also learned quite a few things about the people of other countries through my fellow interns. Thanks to the internship, I now have amazing friends in Russia and the world.

5. What was your contribution for society/organization you worked for?

I was an Inter participating in the International Winter project. This was platform for cultural interaction for youth from different countries and Moscow. I was a part of an international cultural fest. I presented Indian culture, traditions, tourism, economy etc. to people of different countries, youth, schools and orphans through workshops and interactive meetings. And also helped them improve their English. I was also a CEED for an exchange project of AIESEC Moscow. During my internship, I met/ interviewed a person (Mihail) from Moscow and today, he is here with us in India working on his AIESEC internship. This, I believe is the kind of impact that an international exposure and interaction can provide people and develop bonds between people of various countries.

6. How did you find Russia’a culture?

Russia’s culture is very diverse and amazing. I really enjoyed being there as the people showcased their culture, dresses, dances, songs and practices. I went to churches, visited beautiful places, met the coolest people and ice-skated for the first time. Many of my friends were students who came from distant parts/towns of Russia and they taught me a lot about their culture. Some people believe that Russian culture is completely different. But through my interaction with the people of Russia, I figured that there are many similar things in Russia’s culture and other places in the world, even India!

7. What is your feeling towards AIESEC after your internship?

I feel that AIESEC is the one organization which has provided me the platform to have the experience and exposure that very few people can have at my age. It has broadened my views towards the world, career, people and networking.

“An AIESEC internship is a once in a lifetime opportunity and is truly a great step towards becoming a true global citizen and having an international working experience. I would definitely recommend it to everyone. Don’t let the chance pass by.”

Shubhanshu Mishra – Exchange Experience in Finland – An Interview

I was in AIESEC for a year and felt the need to experience its Exchange Part. I was enthusiastic about Going Abroad and working in a Multicultural Environment with a Global Team. I was also interested working on Technological Position in a Company. AIESEC Gave me just that Opportunity and I knew how much I can gain from it, both Professionally and Culturally.

I know I would treasure throughout my life. I knew I wanted to join AIESEC as soon as I heard about it. It was one place I knew I would fit because I have had a diverse background throughout. From being born in Bahrain to doing my education in 6 schools across 5 cities in 2 countries, I knew I was meant for an international career and being in AIESEC will only catapult me towards that dream.

I am an AIESECer – Sarabjeet Singh

At any point in time, AIESEC has innumerous projects on offer which involve working on community issues anywhere and everywhere. Global diversity gives AIESECers several work abroad opportunities and a truly multi-cultural experience even in one’s own country. The organization is so old and large that you could find an AIESECer in most universities around the world and all you need to do is say the two magical words that binds this global village of leaders – ‘Hey AIESEC!’

My Internship Experience- Vanessa Beltrame

I was in India in January and February of 2010 and worked in a national project called Genesis, which objects, among other things, to develop capacity in the management of HIV and AIDS in the educational institutions.

During this time, I learned a lot. Not just about the great indian culture, but also about respect with others and about developing my own skills.
